Monday, January 2, 2023 - Last Friday, December 30th, WInnipeg Police arrested and charged to youths with robbery and the victim was treated for bear spray.
When police responded they found a 66-year-old man suffering from the effects of bear spray. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service personnel medically assessed the victim at the scene. Police located two suspects on Westgrove Way and placed them under arrest after a short foot pursuit.
The investigation the suspects had attended the business and proceeded to steal multiple cigarette and tobacco products from behind the counter when it was left unattended. One of the suspects discharged a canister of bear spray at the victim before both fled with the stolen property. (Estimated value: $2,000).
A 13-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking x 2
He was detained in custody.
A 14-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charge:
She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
