6 Year Old Child Stabbed in Winnipeg


Friday, July 28, 2023 - Winnipeg Police said they responded to a scene where a 6-year-old child was stabbed by a woman known to the child.


Police said that around noon on the 25th of July police arrived on scene in the Burrows/Central neighbourhood for a report of a stabbing incident. When officers arrived they found a 6-year-old boy with serious injuries.


The officers provided immediate life-saving emergency medical care, including using a chest seal. The child was taken to hospital in critical condition and was eventually upgraded to stable condition.

A woman in her 20s was taken into custody on scene and charged with the following offences:

- Attempt to Commit Murder

- Aggravated Assault

- Possession of a Weapon

She was detained in custody.

Police said the Child Abuse Unit is continuing with this investigation. It was also reported that the accused and the victim are known to each other and the accused will not be named out of privacy considerations for the child victim in this matter.
