A 3 A.M. Fire Forces Residents Out of Their Apartments & Into the Cold


Tuesday, December 27, 2022 - Residents of an apartment building on Furby Street were awoken at 3:45 a.m. this morning by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS).


Firefighters arrived to see smoke coming from the building and immediately attacked the fire from inside. The fire was under control within an hour.


No injuries were reported. A Winnipeg Transit bus was provided for temporary shelter for residents who evacuated the building. The City of Winnipeg’s ESS team responded to the incident to help five residents find temporary accommodations.


The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
