Winnipeg, March 4, 2024 — Sunday evening Winnipeg Police responded to a report of an adult female who had been assaulted and robbed in the 2200 block of McPhillips Street, shortly before 9:30 PM.

Upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old victim with upper body injuries resulting from a physical assault. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, where she received necessary medical attention.

The assailant, an adult female suspect, was arrested at the scene without any further trouble. Identified as Tyesha Autumn Baptiste, a 24-year-old resident of Winnipeg.

Police said they learned the victim and a co-worker had granted the suspect access to the washroom of their workplace shortly before the establishment's closure. However, after the premises were shut down for the night, the suspect returned and confronted the victim and her co-worker outside the establishment.

What followed was a violent altercation initiated by the suspect, during which the victim was physically assaulted and subsequently rendered unconscious. The assailant seized the opportunity to abscond with the victim's backpack, containing personal belongings, before fleeing the scene on foot.

Tyesha Autumn Baptiste now faces charges of Robbery in connection with the incident. She remains in custody as the legal proceedings progress.
