A Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Weapons Charges

Friday, August 25, 2023 - Winnipeg police released details about a traffic stop on Wednesday, August 23rd, on Arlington Street.

Around 7:00 p.m., officers in downtown Winnipeg recognized the vehicle as a possible suspect vehicle in a previous firearm-related incident, still under investigation.

Two men were taken into custody. One of the men was carrying a satchel containing a handgun with a high-capacity magazine holding live ammunition (prohibited).

Kevin Aaron Schoffer (28) of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition

  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition

  • Order x 2

He was detained in custody.
