Winnipeg, December 19, 2023 - Early Sunday morning, December 17th, a high-speed chase in the Spence neighborhood left Winnipeg Police Service officers on edge. At approximately 12:40 a.m., officers from the Central District and AIR1 initiated a pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

The reckless driver ignored traffic signals, sped dangerously, and even drove into oncoming traffic. The pursuit took a dangerous turn when the suspect's vehicle collided with a police cruiser after running over a stop stick. The vehicle finally came to a stop on Herman Avenue, where the driver fled to another stolen vehicle, striking three officers attempting to apprehend them.

During this chaotic incident, an officer discharged their firearm at the moving vehicle, thankfully without causing any injuries. The suspect was eventually contained and arrested at McAdam Avenue and Aikins Street.

Jordan Josh Katcheconias, 33, of Winnipeg, now faces multiple charges, including assaulting three peace officers with a weapon, fleeing from the police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and possession of stolen property. He remains in custody while being treated for minor injuries.

Two officers were also treated for injuries and released, while another received minor injuries.
