Arrest Made in Stabbing Death of Winnipeg Teen

Winnipeg, January 16, 2024 - The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit is diligently pursuing its investigation into the heartbreaking stabbing death of 19-year-old Binesi Kennedy, a case that has sent shockwaves through the community. The tragic incident unfolded on January 10, 2024, in the 100 block of Arrow Street, leaving a family in mourning and a city in grief.


On January 14, investigators announced a significant development in the case as they charged 46-year-old Anna Marie Hanska, a Winnipeg resident, with Second Degree Murder. She has taken into custody.


As previously reported, the incident occurred on the evening of January 10, 2024, at approximately 7:20 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service responded swiftly to reports of a stabbing in the first 100 block of Arrow Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an injured adult male, who was immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, despite medical efforts, Binesi Kennedy succumbed to his injuries.
