Break and Enter Suspects Ram Police Car in an Attempt to Getaway


Sunday, November 6, 2022 - Winnipeg Police arrested two people on Saturday morning, after they responded to a Break & Enter in progress at a business on Clarence Avenue.

Officers spotted two suspects entering a vehicle in the commercial property's parking lot. The suspect vehicle, now occupied by an man and woman, immediately fled from police. While fleeing, the suspect vehicle ( later determined stolen) rammed a police vehicle causing extensive damage and rendering it inoperable. No officers were injured as a result of the collision.

With assistance help from Air-1, the unoccupied vehicle was tracked down and located at Hurst Way and Waverley Street. Members of Air-1 guided a K-9 unit and officers to the suspects, who were safely arrested without incident.

Officers located and seized a large amount of property (believed stolen) from the abandoned vehicle, including the following:

- CO2 pellet firearm

- Various tools

- Various vehicle keys

- License plates

- Identity documents

Ian Thomas LANGRIDGE, 45, of Saskatoon, is charged with the following offences:

- Break & Enter with Intent – Place

- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon x 2

- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code

- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

- Possession of a Weapon

- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

- Flight while pursued by Peace Officer

- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 x 11

Amanda Michelle MAGES, 38, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

- Break, Enter &Theft – Place

Both were detained in custody.
