Sunday, September 24, 2023 - Imagine being able to pick up your favourite beer or spirits at Costco or Safeway like people can in Saskatchewan and Alberta. While it could soon be a thing if the Progressive Conservatives return as government on October 3rd.

Kevin Klein, PC candidate for Kirkfield Park, announced today that a re-elected PC government will expand liquor sales into grocery stores and other vendors,

“Our PC Team has fought to allow more consumer choice when it comes to liquor sales,” said Klein. “But Wab Kinew blocked the bill each step of the way. Worse, he influenced his union leader buddies to cause an unnecessary strike this year—and blocked Manitobans from buying liquor products this summer.”

Many other Canadian jurisdictions already allow expanded liquor sales, as do many rural areas in Manitoba, Klein noted.

The PCs would reintroduce legislation within the first legislative session upon being re-elected as government, Klein said, adding the bill will be based on consultations with the industry and with Manitobans.

The Manitoba government will remain the exclusive wholesaler of liquor in the province, Klein said.

The provincial election will be held on October 3rd, 2023.
