Drunk Driver Slams Into Police Car

Winnipeg, January 16, 2024 - Sunday evening a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by a 32-year-old female from Winnipeg, collided with a parked police vehicle in the West District of Winnipeg. The incident occurred at around 11:44 p.m. on Silver Avenue near Albany Street, resulting in extensive damage to both vehicles.


The West District members of the Winnipeg Police Service's Community Support Unit had parked their police vehicle in the eastbound parking lane when the collision occurred. Fortunately, the officers remained unharmed during the incident, but they swiftly attended to the adult female driver who was the sole occupant of the Pontiac Sunfire.


According to police reports, the driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. Officers promptly called for an ambulance to assess her condition at the scene. Following the initial evaluation, the driver was transported to a local hospital for further medical assessment. Thankfully, she was subsequently cleared medically.


  • Despite the fortunate outcome for the officers and the driver, the incident has resulted in serious legal consequences for the 32-year-old woman. She now faces two significant charges:

  • Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or Combination of Both

  • Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand


Following her involvement in the collision and the subsequent investigation by police, the accused was released via an Appearance Notice. She is scheduled to appear before the court to answer the charges filed against her.
