Employee Held Captive at Knifepoint


Friday, December 9, 2022 - Winnipeg police said a man armed with a knife entered a store and threatened two employees on Wednesday afternoon at a . One of the employees managed to escape and contacted police, while the other employee was held captive at a convenience store on Selkirk Avenue.

Police attempted to de-escalate the suspect from outside the store. They subsequently distracted him, and the employee escaped the store. When police entered the store, the suspect remained armed, refusing to drop the weapon. Police utilized a “Taser,” was to take the man into custody.

The victims were not physically injured. Police transported the accused to hospital for precautionary measures.

A 26-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges for the following offences:

- Robbery

- Possession of a Weapon x 2

- Forcible Confinement x 2

- Resist Peace Officer

He remains in police custody.
