Fire alarm leads to discovery of a Winnipeg homicide


Saturday, July 16, 2022 - The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit is investing the death of an injured man found Friday in a residence.


Around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Winnipeg Police were dispatched to Burnell Street for the report of an injured male who had been found by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attending to a fire alarm at this location.

Officers from the Central District attended and located an adult male suffering from upper-body injuries within the residence. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is continuing by the Homicide Unit. No suspects have been arrested.
