Fire ravages vacant home on Spence Street in Winnipeg

Winnipeg, February 26, 2024 - Late on Sunday the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) attended to a blaze at a vacant multi-family residence in the 100 block of Spence Street.


Arriving just before midnight, firefighters encountered a fierce inferno, with thick smoke billowing and flames engulfing the structure.


The fire caused extensive damage, rendering the building a total loss. Plans are underway for an emergency demolition.


WFPS personnel continue to monitor the site, extinguishing lingering hotspots as preparations for demolition progress.
