Winnipeg, April 12, 2024 - The Manitoba government announced an investment of $585,000 to bolster the fire safety infrastructure in the Municipality of Roblin. This funding will facilitate the acquisition of a new fire truck for Roblin Fire and Rescue.

This financial support is part of a broader initiative, the rural strategic infrastructure basket, which is a component of the Strategic Municipal Investment Fund. The fund is designed to allocate resources to projects aligning with Manitoba's definition of strategic infrastructure, encompassing vital sectors such as water and wastewater treatment, waste management facilities, public transit, roads and bridges, and recreational projects.

Alf Brade, the fire chief of Roblin Fire and Rescue, expressed his appreciation for the government's investment, emphasizing the significance of the new fire truck in maintaining the community's safety standards. "This new truck will allow us to maintain a level of protection that our constituents expect," stated Brade. He further highlighted the broader impact of this acquisition, noting that it would benefit not only the local residents but also extend support to neighboring municipalities.

The new fire truck, crafted by Acres Industries in Wawanesa, underscores Manitoba's commitment to supporting local industries and generating employment opportunities within the province. The vehicle, a top-mount enclosed pumper apparatus, represents a substantial upgrade over Roblin Fire and Rescue's previous pumper truck, which was procured back in 1991. With advanced features and enhanced capabilities, the new fire truck is poised to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of emergency response efforts in Roblin and surrounding areas.
