The Guns & Gangs Unit Busts Drug and Firearms Operation in Winnipeg
Winnipeg Police shut down drug and firearms operation.

Winnipeg, February 5, 2024 - Yesterday, the Winnipeg Police's Guns & Gangs Unit executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Waterfront Drive, leading to the apprehension of two individuals and the seizure of a cache of illegal items.


The operation, which began around 12:30 p.m., targeted an alleged firearms and narcotics-related criminal enterprise, resulting in the apprehension of an 18-year-old male, identified as Ethan McLeod of Winnipeg, and a 25-year-old female, Aleah Scott, also from Winnipeg.


The investigation yielded a substantial haul of illicit items, which were confiscated by the police. Among the seized items were a loaded Colt .32 handgun, 1019 grams of cocaine, valued at an estimated $30,000 on the street, and 109 hydromorphone pills, with an estimated street value of $2,180. In addition to the firearms and narcotics, four cell phones, drug packaging materials, and identity documents were also secured by the authorities.


Ethan McLeod is now facing a litany of charges, including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Hydromorphone, and Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000.


Aleah Scott, the 25-year-old female apprehended during the operation, has been charged with similar offenses, including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Hydromorphone, Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Identity Theft, and Identity Fraud.
