High Risk Sex Offender to Live in Winnipeg


Friday, November 18, 2022 - Winnipeg Police are warning residents about a high risk sex offender who is considered high risk to re‑offend in a sexual manner against all children, particularly females that will be living in the city.


Leslie Wayne Oliver Mercredi (also known as Leslie Wayne Brightnose, Leslie Mecredi), 31 years of age, is a convicted sex offender who was released from the Stony Mountain Institution, on November 17 after serving a total sentence of three years and six months (in addition to 779 days pre-trial sentence custody) for sexual interference, possess weapon dangerous to the public peace, and breach probation.

Mercredi has a history of violent and sexual offences. Although he participated in some treatment programming in the past, Mercredi is still considered high risk to re-offend in a sexual manner. All children are at risk, particularly females.

This information is provided to enable members of the public to take suitable measures to protect themselves. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct directed at Mr. Mercredi will not be tolerated.
