K-9 Unit Helps Rescue 69 Year Old in House Fire, Unfortunately One Person was Found Dead


Monday, November 7, 2022 - Shortly after midnight on Sunday, Winnipeg Police spotted a home on fire on Logan Avenue and called for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS).

Before WFPS arrived, a member of the K9 Unit, gained entry to the home and found a 69-year-old female. Police safely escorted her to safety and learned a 45-year-old male was still in the home. Officers assisted by the Tactical Support re-entered the building to locate the male; however, retreated due to the intensity of the fire.

WFPS members advised they had located the adult male victim dead within the residence.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
