Winnipeg, April 15, 2024 – Maxim Dale Garneau, 27, has been apprehended by the Winnipeg Police Service in connection with two separate homicides that shook the city in recent months.

On September 10, 2023, authorities responded to distressing reports of a male shot in the 200 block of College Avenue. Tragically, the victim, identified as Daniel Raymond Garvey-Rodriquez, 25, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

In another distressing incident on March 18, 2024, officers were summoned to a residence in the 1200 block of Selkirk Avenue, where they discovered the body of Edgar Allan Bear, 56, who had also been fatally shot.

Both cases remained under investigation by the Homicide Unit, which led to the identification of Maxim Dale Garneau as a suspect in both homicides.

Following consultations with the Manitoba Prosecution Service, Garneau was charged with two counts of Second Degree Murder, along with a slew of weapon-related charges, after being located and arrested on April 11, 2024.

During his arrest, Garneau was found in possession of a loaded rifle concealed in his backpack, leading to additional charges. He is currently being held in custody as legal proceedings unfold.
