Winnipeg, February 14, 2024 - Winnipeg Police responded to a call for help at the Osborne Transit Station last night, where a male passenger in his 20s was viciously stabbed amidst a disturbing episode of racial slurs and physical violence.

Arriving at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers found the victim in critical condition, providing crucial emergency medical aid including a chest seal. His condition has since been upgraded to stable after receiving treatment at hospital.

Police said investigations reveal that the altercation erupted on a bus, where the victim was subjected to racial slurs and subsequently threatened and assaulted by another male passenger. The bus was halted, and both individuals got off before police were alerted. The suspect managed to evade police and remains at large.

The suspect is described as a white man aged between 20 to 30 years old, with a slim build, according to police reports.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed control of the investigation and is urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
