Police Investigating Discovery of Unresponsive Male on St. Vital Bridge

Winnipeg, December 14, 2023 - IThe Winnipeg Police are currently conducting an investigation into the death of a 63-year-old man whose life came to a tragic end on December 1. At approximately 10:20 p.m. that evening, police responded to a report of an unresponsive male found lying on the sidewalk along the north side of the St. Vital Bridge.


Despite immediate efforts to save the individual, the man was transported to hospital in critical condition but, was later pronounced dead. The identity of the victim has been confirmed, and his family has been notified.


Investigators have learned that earlier in the evening, the deceased had been at an establishment located in the 700 block of Osborne Street North. He was in the company of a group of individuals but left the premises at approximately 8:30 p.m., accompanied by an unidentified patron.


The unidentified patron, a white male believed to be between 50 and 60 years old, is now a person of interest in the ongoing investigation. Authorities are seeking to speak with him in the hope that he possesses crucial information that may shed light on the circumstances leading to the victims death.


The individual is described as having a beard and longer hair, both with light brown/grey coloring. He was also seen wearing a light-colored shoulder satchel, a flat cap, and glasses, possibly reading glasses.


The Winnipeg Police are requesting any individuals or businesses with surveillance footage from the vicinity to share their recordings with investigators.
