Police Responding to a Check for Wellbeing Were Hit With Bear Spray by a 15-Year-Old.


Tuesday, August 1, 2023 - Winnipeg Police were called to a home and were speaking with to a resident of the house when another resident (a teenager) confronted the two officers and unexpectedly sprayed bear spray directly in their faces.


A call to police to a Check for Well Being Call was on Monday at 5:30 p.m., at a residence in the North Kildonan neighbourhood.

While police were speaking to a resident of the house another resident (a teenager) confronted the two officers and unexpectedly sprayed bear spray directly in their faces.

A 15-year-old male was taken into custody, and WFPS subsequently attended to treat the officers and other residents for exposure.

He is facing charges of Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon x 2 and Possess a Weapon. He was released on an Undertaking into the care of an adult, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
