Police Say Young Girls at Risk With Violent Sex Offender In Winnipeg.


July 13, 2023 - Police are informing the public of a High Risk Sex Offender that has been released from prison and will be living in Winnipeg.


Police say Leslie Wayne Oliver Mercredi (also known as Leslie Wayne Brightnose, Leslie Mecredi), 32 years of age, is a convicted sex offender who is considered a high risk to re-offend in a sexual manner against all children, particularly females.


Mercredi was released from the Headingley Correctional Centre, on July 12, 2023 after serving a total sentence of 6.5 months (includes 4.5 months of pre-sentence custody) for failing to comply with the conditions of his Recognizance Order.


Mecredi has a history of violent and sexual offences. Although he participated in some treatment programming in the past, MERCREDI is still considered high risk to re-offend in a sexual manner. All children are at risk, particularly females.


This information is provided to enable members of the public to take suitable measures to protect themselves. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct directed at Mr. Mercredi will not be tolerated.
