RCMP Investigating a Home Invasion That Left an Elderly Woman Injured

Russell, Manitoba, November 24, 2023 - Russell RCMP responded to a call in a quiet rural area north of Rossburn was disrupted by a home invasion on November 21, in broad daylight, around 9:00 am.


According to RCMP they received a distressing call regarding a home invasion in progress. Three suspects - two males and one female - forcibly entered a home after knocking on the door. The situation escalated when a 76-year-old woman inside the home was assaulted by the intruders. Fortunately, a family member intervened, prompting the male suspects to hastily flee the scene.


While the family member managed to briefly detain the female suspect, she managed to break free and escape on foot before law enforcement arrived. Allegedly, the male suspects picked her up in a grey vehicle.


The elderly victim, who suffered injuries during the altercation, was transported to the hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, she has since been released.


The suspects were entirely unknown to the residents, and notably, no weapons were used during the attack. The male suspects obscured their identities by wearing masks, while the female suspect has been described as being in her mid-twenties.
