RCMP: Shoplifting suspect carrying a concealed weapon

Winnipeg, March 14, 2024 - Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a shoplifting incident on March 11th, in the 2200 block of Saskatchewan Avenue. According to reports, a male suspect entered the store and began placing items into his backpack. When approached by employees, he denied any wrongdoing and swiftly left the premises.


Upon the arrival of RCMP, the suspect was spotted nearby and apprehended without resistance. A subsequent search uncovered a concealed replica firearm and the stolen merchandise.


Jonathan Shore, a 30-year-old resident of Regina, was taken into custody. It was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant from Calgary. Shore now faces charges of Theft Under $5000, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Weapons Possession contrary to an Order x3.


The Portage la Prairie RCMP is actively investigating the incident.
