Serious Motor Vehicle Collision Leaves Cyclist in Critical Condition

Winnipeg, February 6, 2024 - An 83-year-old cyclist is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Pembina Highway and Daly Street North. The Winnipeg Police responded to the scene at around 6:30 a.m.


Upon arrival, police found an elderly male cyclist, who remains unidentified, had sustained serious bodily injuries and was in dire need of immediate medical attention. Attending officers applied a tourniquet to the victim immediately. The injured cyclist was taken to the hospital, where he continues to battle for survival in critical condition, surrounded by a dedicated medical team.


According to preliminary findings from the investigation, it has been determined that the victim was traveling eastbound on Daly Street North when he approached the intersection with Pembina Highway. Tragically, as he attempted to cross the busy thoroughfare, he was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Colorado.


The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, the sole occupant of the vehicle, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigating officers.


The Traffic Division will now be working to piece together the events leading up to the collision, with the goal of establishing a comprehensive understanding of the incident.
