Stabbing Incident in Winnipeg Leads to Arrest and Charges


Winnipeg, November 9, 2023 – A violent altercation in Winnipeg's North End resulted in the stabbing of a 40-year-old male victim on November 6. The incident, which occurred around 12:45 p.m., prompted a rapid response from the Winnipeg Police.


According to police reports, the victim was attending the Health Sciences Centre seeking medical aid for a serious upper-body injury sustained during the altercation. Officers from the confirmed the victim's condition as stable after he received emergency medical care.


Police investigations led them to an address on Pritchard Avenue, believed to be the location where the assault originated. It was discovered that the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Devon Anthony David Naylor of Winnipeg, had engaged in a verbal dispute with two residents at the residence. The confrontation escalated into a physical fight, during which Naylor brandished a knife and stabbed the male victim, causing significant injuries. Following the stabbing, the suspect also damaged a vehicle belonging to a 34-year-old female victim before both victims fled to seek medical help.


Naylor now faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon (two counts), Carrying a Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition, and Mischief Under $5,000/ Obstruct in Enjoyment. He remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
