Stranger Lures Boy With Candy in Elmwood


Thursday, April 13, 2023 - Winnipeg Police are investigating a report of a stranger attempting to lure a young boy in the Elmwood area on Wednesday around 12:30 pm.


Police report that a 10-year-old was walking to school when a vehicle pulled up beside him. An unknown adult male exited the car and asked if he wanted candy. The child declined, and the stranger offered him candy a second time. The child quickly ran to safety and reported the incident to the school.

The school provided parental notifications regarding student awareness and safety planning.

The suspect is described as a tall white adult male with a thin build, wearing a black sweater with “Zoo York” written on the side, grey pants, with red/yellow shoes.

The vehicle is described as a small darker blue car.

The Child Abuse Unit has taken over this investigation; anyone with information, including home surveillance in this area, is asked to call investigators at 204-986-3296 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
