Three teenagers, 13 to 16, charged with arson by Police

Winnipeg, April 3, 2024 – On the evening of February 7, of this year, Balmoral Street was the scene of two ferocious fire engulfed two vacant residences in the 500 block. In a recent development, the Winnipeg Police have announced the arrest of three suspects allegedly responsible for the deliberate arson attack.


The Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service (WFPS) and police responded to the scene at approximately 6:30 p.m., battling the blaze that ultimately consumed both properties. While the buildings were left in ruins, thankfully, no injuries were reported.


After weeks of investigation by the Major Crimes Unit, police identified three teenaged suspects believed to be involved in the arson incident.


On April 1, a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old male, alongside a 15-year-old female, were apprehended and taken into custody. These teenagers now face severe charges, including Arson Causing Damage to Property (x2) and Possession of Incendiary Material.


All three suspects were released to adult custody.
