Three Youths, Aged 12 and 13, Charged for Assaulting a 14-Year Old


The Pas, Manitoba - October 16, 2023 - On October 10, at approximately 12:40 pm, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to reports of a violent altercation in a field adjacent to Smith Avenue in The Pas. The incident involved several male individuals, with one carrying a knife, who were allegedly seen assaulting a youth through physical violence, including kicks and punches.


Despite a prompt police response, the suspects had fled the scene by the time officers arrived. However, the victim, identified as a 14-year-old male youth, was located and taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the assault.


In the course of their ongoing investigation, the RCMP has successfully identified three of the four male suspects involved in the incident. Subsequently, three male youths, aged 12 and 13, were apprehended and placed under arrest. They now face charges of Assault and have been released from custody, pending a court appearance scheduled for January 9, 2024. The RCMP has indicated that further charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.


Sergeant Colin Stark of The Pas RCMP Detachment urged members of the public to assist in their efforts, stating, "We believe there are a number of people who witnessed this assault. Parents, please have a conversation with your child, and if they witnessed the assault and have information on this incident, please let us know."
