Winnipeg, December 23, 2023 - A devastating two-vehicle collision occurred on Thursday, December 21, at 5:30 pm, at the intersection of Highway 14 and Provincial Road 426, in the Rural Municipality (RM) of Montcalm. Emerson RCMP Detachment swiftly responded to the incident.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a northbound vehicle on Provincial Road 426 failed to yield the right of way and entered Highway 14, resulting in a collision with a westbound vehicle. The impact was tragic.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 55-year-old male resident of St. Joseph, fortunately escaped unharmed. Tragically, the driver of the westbound vehicle, a 46-year-old male hailing from Morden, lost his life in the accident. It was revealed that the deceased was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Emerson RCMP, in conjunction with an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, are diligently conducting further investigations to ascertain the precise circumstances leading to this unfortunate incident.
