Winnipeg, January 31, 2024 - Winnipeg Police arrested two youths for an armed robbery that happened shortly after midnight today.


Officers, along with the K9 Unit and Tactical Support Team (TST), swiftly located the suspects who had fled the scene of the robbery near Gilbert/Burrows. The victims, a male and female couple in their 40s, were waiting at a bus stop when they were confronted by armed individuals brandishing a handgun. The assailants demanded their groceries, the male victim was shot in the face with a CO2-powered firearm.

The injured man was taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition after receiving medical attention. The female victim was not physically harmed during the ordeal.

Both the alleged perpetrators, a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old male from Winnipeg, are now facing a series of serious charges, including Robbery (x2), Using an Imitation Firearm in Commission of an Offence, Pointing a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Causing Bodily Harm with Intent – Air Gun or Pistol.
