Vacant House Fire on Selkirk Threatens Neighbouring Homes

When firefighters arrives the fire was well-involved with heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. WFPS sait the structure was not safe for them to enter the structure. The fire was fought using an aerial ladder truck to apply water on the fire, while also protecting neighbouring homes from fire spread.

Both neighbouring homes were evacuated. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

As of 8:00 a.m. this morning, crews are expected to be on scene for an extended period of time. Selkirk Avenue between Arlington Street and Sinclair Street is closed. Residents are asked to avoid this area.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation. While no damage estimates are available at this time, the house is expected to be a complete loss.
