Winnipeg, March 21, 2024 - Winnipeg Police Service's Property Crime Unit has been conducting an investigation into a series of retail thefts in the city, focusing on an adult male and adult female suspect. The suspects have been identified as 44-year-old Lorne Quintin Flett and 41-year-old Lena Rose Romero. During four of the theft incidents, a child under 10, believed to be in the suspect's care, was present.


The theft incidents occurred at various retail stores between December 6, 2023, and February 18, 2024. On December 6 and 16, 2023, the suspects stole approximately $250 and $500 worth of products and groceries from a retail store in the 800 block of Regent Avenue.


On January 14 and 18, 2024, they stole approximately $300 and $250 worth of items from the same location. On January 25, 2024, they targeted a retail store in the 300 block of McPhillips Street, stealing approximately $40 worth of products. Their spree continued into February, with thefts on February 3, 12, and 18, 2024, from retail stores in the 1600 block of Kenaston Boulevard, amounting to approximately $150, $130, and $75 in stolen goods, respectively.


Warrants of arrest have been issued for Flett and Romero in connection with these incidents. Investigators are also expressing concerns for the wellbeing of the child involved.
