Winnipeg Firefighters Battle Blaze on Promenade Des Intrepides

Winnipeg, October 30, 2023 – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) saved a couple of family pets from disaster as flames engulfed their home on Promenade Des Intrepides last night.

At 10:18 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, emergency services were alerted to a raging fire in an attached garage, quickly escalating to the residence itself. WFPS crews arrived on scene to find flames lashing out and threatening the entire property.

Firefighters launched a daring offensive attack. However, as the situation rapidly deteriorated, they were forced to tactically withdraw and transition to a defensive strategy using an aerial ladder. The battle against the blaze intensified as firefighters fought valiantly to gain control.

By 11:59 p.m., after a relentless fight, the flames were finally subdued. The combined efforts of the firefighting crews ensured that the fire, which had once threatened to devour the entire home, was extinguished.

All occupants of the house had evacuated the premises prior to the arrival of the fire crews, ensuring their safety. In a heartwarming twist, firefighters discovered two family cats amidst the chaos, rescuing them from the perilous inferno.

"The occupants' quick evacuation greatly aided our efforts to contain the fire," stated WFPS Chief, Sarah Anderson. "Their responsible actions, coupled with the bravery and professionalism of our firefighters, prevented what could have been a tragic loss."

The cause of the fire remains shrouded in mystery as investigators work diligently to unravel the circumstances that led to the blaze. As of now, estimates of the damage incurred are unavailable, although the residence has suffered significant smoke, fire, and water damage.
