Winnipeg Jets' Win Streak Halted in San Jose

By: Staff Writer I Winnipeg Tribune

Winnipeg, December 13, 2023 - In a Tuesday night showdown against the San Jose Sharks, the Winnipeg Jets fell short, losing 2-1 and missing out on extending their win streak to five games. Despite Brenden Dillon's lone goal for the Jets, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Sharks' resilience on the ice.

The Sharks surged into action right out of the gate, putting immense pressure on the Jets. If not for the remarkable performance of goaltender Laurent Brossoit, the Jets could have faced a far more challenging situation early on.

The Sharks made their mark on the scoreboard at the 9:17 mark of the opening period, with a goal by Justin Bailey. Mackenzie Blackwood of the Sharks matched Brossoit's brilliance, making standout saves throughout the night. Despite the play of Brossoit the Jets came up short on special teams, due in part, to the loss of Kyle Connor.

The defeat marked the Jets' fourth consecutive loss in San Jose. This loss also denied the Jets an opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the fiercely competitive Central Division.

Looking to rebound from this defeat, the Winnipeg Jets are now set to face the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night. This matchup against the Kings will mark the end of their four-game road trip, providing the Jets with an opportunity to bounce back.
