SUNDAY, APRIL 24, 2022 - A man attempting a break and enter was caught by Winnipeg Police.

Early Friday morning Winnipeg Police received a report of a commercial break-in in progress occurring in the 300 block of Dufferin Avenue. A suspect was determined to still be on the premises.

North District General Patrol Officers, with the assistance of a K-9 Unit, responded and located a lone suspect in the process of exiting the commercial building.

As he exited the building, the suspect placed stolen property and what was subsequently determined to be a loaded improvised firing device (commonly referred to as a ‘zip gun’) onto the ground. Officers safely arrested the lone suspect without incident.

A 31-year- old male of Winnipeg, is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a Prohibited Device Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 3

  • Possession of a Weapon

  • Break, Enter & Theft (Place)

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

  • The accused remains in custody.
