WINNIPEG MAN CHARGED WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY


Tuesday, May 10, 2022 - On May 2, 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service were alerted by the Winnipeg Humane Society of a report of abuse of a cat in a residence in the 900 block of Sherbrook Street which occurred April 29, 2022.

The Winnipeg Humane Society investigator attended and located the roommate, who was determined to have placed the call for assistance. The cat was found in severe distress, suffering from a severely injured limb and facial injuries.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the cat’s leg required amputation.

On May 2, at approximately 10:00 a.m., in consultation with the Chief Veterinary Office of Manitoba, the suspect male was placed under arrest by members of the East and Central District without incident.

A 32- year-old male, of Winnipeg, is facing the following charge:

- Causing Unnecessary Suffering to an Animal

The male was released on an Appearance Notice.
