Winnipeg Mother Defends Home, Stabs Intruder in Early Morning Confrontation


Winnipeg, October 23, 2023 - Early Sunday morning, Winnipeg Police responded to a violent break-in attempt on Raleigh Street in East Kildonan. At approximately 1:15 a.m., officers arrived at the scene to find an intoxicated adult female suspect suffering from an upper-body injury sustained during a stabbing.


The suspect had forcibly entered the residence, kicking in the front door after a prior verbal dispute. Inside, a female resident defended her home by stabbing the intruder, thwarting her entry. Thankfully, two children in the house remained unharmed during the incident.


The suspect and victim were not strangers, with a prior connection. The 29-year-old female from Winnipeg, faces charges of Break & Enter with Intent – Dwelling House. She has been released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
