Winnipeg, December 7, 2023 - Yesterday around 6:55 a.m., the Winnipeg Police responded to reports of an armed man in the Point Douglas area.


Members of the North District General Patrol arrived at the first 100 block of Rover Avenue and successfully located a man matching the description of the reported suspect. Upon making contact with the individual, a concealed firearm dropped to the ground.


The seized weapon was a modified sawed-off CO² powered air rifle adapted to accept .22 caliber rounds of ammunition.


The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Damian Wylde Beasly, a resident of Winnipeg, faces multiple charges, including possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed prohibited device or ammunition, and failure to comply with the conditions of a release order.


Subsequently, Damian Wylde Beasly has been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.
