Winnipeg, March 2, 2024 - In the early hours of today, a tense situation unfolded in a Winnipeg bar on Arlington Street. It was shortly after midnight when police responded to the scene where several individuals were reportedly embroiled in a heated altercation, with firearms suspected to be involved.


Upon arrival, police observed two adult male suspects believed to be central to the altercation. As officers moved in, the suspects attempted to evade capture by fleeing on foot. Despite their efforts, officers managed to apprehend one of the suspects after a brief pursuit.


However, the second suspect continued to evade authorities, prompting the Winnipeg Police Service to deploy additional resources. With the assistance of Air-1, which provided crucial aerial support, officers on the ground were able to locate the fleeing suspect in a residential yard in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue.


Upon the arrest of the suspects, officers recovered two firearms in close proximity to each suspect.


The seized firearms included a Loaded Glock 42 .380 calibre handgun with a loaded magazine, as well as a Loaded Glock 22 .40 calibre handgun with a loaded magazine.


In addition to the firearms, officers confiscated approximately 35 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $3,500, along with approximately $1,050 in Canadian currency, and several cellular phones believed to be linked to the suspects' activities.


A 32-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing a litany of charges including Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.


Similarly, the second suspect, a 29-year-old man from Winnipeg is facing serious charges including Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition and Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon.
