Winnipeg, December 22, 2023 - On December 17, 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service's Sex Crimes Unit launched an investigation following a distressing report of sexual assault during a personal training session in the city's northeast area.


According to the victim's account, on December 16, an adult female attended a session with her fitness trainer, identified as Joseph Patrick Luna (26), who had been coaching her for approximately a year. During the session at a fitness facility, they found themselves in a private consultation room where Luna allegedly made sexually suggestive remarks and proceeded to sexually assault her. Fortunately, the victim did not require medical attention for her injuries.


Joseph Patrick Luna has been charged with multiple offenses, including forcible confinement, attempting to overcome resistance through choking, suffocation, or strangulation, and sexual assault.


He has been released on an Undertaking, in accordance with the Criminal Code.
