WINNIPEG POLICE INVESTIGATING AN ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION


Thursday, May 26, 2022 - Wednesday afternoon, around 3:40 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of an attempted abduction on Austin Street North.


A caller had reported seeing an adult male attempt to grab a child that had been in the area. The child was physically unharmed, and the suspect fled in a silver-coloured sport utility vehicle (SUV).


The male is described as Caucasian in appearance, 35-40 years old, and approximately 5’7” in height with a medium build. He was unshaven with curly brown hair and wore a ball cap, a dark-coloured t-shirt, dark khaki pants and blue runners.


This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
