Winnipeg, March 7, 2024 - In the early hours of March 6, officers from the Winnipeg Police conducted a routine traffic stop on Mountain Avenue, prompting a high-speed chase. Subsequent investigation revealed the driver, identified as Blaine Thadeus Harper (26), had an outstanding warrant for parole violation. A search of the vehicle uncovered illegal narcotics, including methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with firearms, resulting in Harper's arrest on ten drug trafficking and firearm-related charges. The passenger was released without charges.

Less than 24 hours later, today around 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a firearm threat in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue. According to police reports, an adult male was moving his vehicle when a taxi arrived, from which three individuals emerged. Without provocation, one of the passengers brandished a handgun, threatening the victim before the trio fled the scene. The victim promptly contacted police, leading to the apprehension of the suspects at a nearby residence. Police seized a sawed-off rifle, BB handgun, a replica handgun, and ammunition from the suspects.

Four individuals are now facing firearm-related charges in connection with the incident. Two females, aged 24 and 36, and a male aged 29, have been detained in custody, while another male, aged 25, has been released on an Undertaking.
