The incident unfolded around 6:35 p.m. when police received a report of an armed male at a residence in Transcona. Concerns for the safety of an adult female within the premises prompted officers to prioritize her safe extraction from the situation.

Police said upon arriving at the scene, they learned that the male in question was armed with a rifle. The Crisis Negotiation Unit was immediately informed to facilitate communication with the distressed individual.

Approximately 36 minutes into the standoff, at 7:11 p.m., TST members successfully extracted the adult female from the residence. She reported no physical injuries resulting from the incident.

The Winnipeg Police Service deployed a multi-agency response, including the East District General Patrol Units, Tactical Support Team, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Unit (commonly known as the Drone Unit), and Crisis Negotiators, to handle the situation. This coordinated effort was instrumental in ensuring a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

After approximately three hours, the male was taken into custody without further incident. He was subsequently transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
