Winnipeg records 29th homicide of 2022

Monday, July 18, 2022 - The record number of homicides in Winnipeg is 44 set in 2019. Sadly, that record could be surpassed in 2022 as Winnipeg Police report the city's 29th homicide.

Friday morning, shortly after 11:00 a.m., police responded to a wellbeing check for an injured male at a hotel on Regent Avenue West.

Police say a 33-year-old male from St. Theresa Pointe, Belton Mason, was found dead within one of the suites.

The Homicide Unit took over the investigation, and a 17-year-old male from St. Theresa Point was subsequently arrested. He is facing the charge of manslaughter and is detained in custody.
