Winnipeg, March 15, 2024 - Winnipeg Police responded to a call on Wednesday evening, around 7:00 p.m., regarding an a woman seen running on railroad tracks in the Mission Gardens area.

Police were told that the woman had climbed onto a parked locomotive and retrieved a hammer from a nearby toolbox. Subsequently, she repeatedly struck the locomotive's window, causing an estimated $1,500 in damages. The conductor, noticing the erratic behavior, took precautions by securing the cab door to prevent her from entering. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Officers located the woman on CN Rail Line property situated between Plessis Road and Bournais Drive, and she was placed under arrest.

Following her apprehension, she was transported to police headquarters. However, due to escalating erratic conduct observed while in custody, coupled with medical concerns, police transferred her to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The individual, identified as a 22-year-old female from Winnipeg, was charged with Mischief Under $5,000 and issued a Provincial Offence Act citation for Trespassing Railway Property. She remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
