Winnipeg, February 2, 2024 - The entertainment world mourns the loss of Carl Weathers, a beloved actor known for his diverse roles on both the big and small screens. Weathers, best known for portraying Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" film series, passed away peacefully in his sleep, according to a statement from his family.


Weathers' career spanned decades, showcasing his versatility from action-packed performances in "Action Jackson" to comedic roles in "Arrested Development." He first gained fame as the charismatic world champion boxer Apollo Creed in Sylvester Stallone's iconic "Rocky" franchise, catapulting him to stardom.


Beyond his successful acting career, Weathers had a background in sports, having played college football at San Diego State University and briefly in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders in 1970. He later joined the Canadian Football League's B.C. Lions while pursuing a degree in drama at San Francisco State University.
